The Needham High School Longboard Club and New England Grass Roots Slalom has been using this Soapbox derby hill for a year now and it is perfect for Slalom Skateboard Racing. The hill was repaved in 2006 and is part of the Middlesex Fells Reservation in Medford/ Stoneham Massachussetts. The hill is right next to the Sheepfold Meadows parking lot, off of route 28. There will be two events on one day, first off will be the dual hybrid slalom. Gates will range from 6-8 feet. The top of the hill is very steep so it will be a box start. Traditional Bracket of 16 racers. B and C brackets will be added as neccessary.

After the head to head slalom there will be a single lane Giant Slalom. We will have two divisions. Over and under 38 inch long boards.

This is an outlaw event, meaning we don't have express permission to be in the park and remember SKATE AT YOUR OWN RISK. Helmets Required, pads reccomended. Also remember Parking is always very hard to get in the parking lot. Pack light because we have to park outside and walk a little ways into the park. Announcing the Second Annual Needham Open!

With the 2006 season successfully behind us, SlalomSpot.com is partnering with North East Cabana Flow: an upstart longboard maker out of Salem Massachusetts.

In 2007 NECF will be producing a new line of 'Aurora' slalom boards designed by and for SlalomSpot.com team riders. SlalomSpot.com and North East Cabana Flow are proud to announce the second annual Needham Open Slalom Skateboard Race on May 19th.

The venue is a single lane access road running up the front of the Needham High School Campus. Slight pitch and good pavement. There is plenty of space for parking in the student parking lot adjacent to the race site.

40-60 cones.
.1 second cone penalty for each knocked out of the circle.
Take as many runs as possible, best run counts.

The Needham High Longboard Club was one of the first slalom skateboarding group to organize out of a public school. Started in 2004 the club has grown and former and current NHS students will be a crucial part in organizing this competition.
